Cashel Dennehy, located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with branches in Madison Fox Point and Hartland, has been in existence since 1983. We are a family oriented dance school; our parent run board works closely with our teachers to provide a school community that pushes the creative envelope while retaining the traditional spirit of Irish dance.

The Cashel Dennehy School of Irish Dance evolved from the Shamrock Club Irish Dancers. We still carry on the original goals of preserving our Irish heritage through music and dance while giving back to the communities around us.

The School was originally named the Cashel School of Irish Dance, taking its name from the famous Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary; a symbol of royalty and priestly power in Ireland for more than a millenium. Our school color, St. Patrick's Blue, is the color associated with royalty.

In 1982, renowned dance master, Dennis Dennehy, TCRG, ADCRG became our teacher. He made weekly trips from Chicago to Milwaukee to teach our dancers. Mr. Dennehy retired from teaching in 1993, but remains an active force in the Irish dance community as President of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America. As we became more active, we wanted to become more closely associated with our teachers, hence we changed our name to the Cashel Dennehy School of Irish Dance in 1987 in honor of Dennis Dennehy, TCRG, ADCRG.

Since 1993, Mr. Dennehy's daughter, Kathy Dennehy, TCRG, ADCRG, has been our Dance master. She has been a respected teacher of Irish dance since 1980. Our teaching staff grew in 1995 when Laura Gottslich earned her TCRG, in 1998 when Kate Habel, one of the first students of the school, earned her TCRG, and again in 2003 when Maura Starr Heck earned her TCRG as well and joined the team. With the recent addition of Aileen Cronin (TCRG 2005) we now have five TCRG's on staff. Many Championship level teaching assistants complement the Cashel Dennehy staff as well.
